20 Years of Bringing People and Wildlife Together

A Message from Michael Johnson – Owner and Founder of Moonlit Sanctuary

“When my parents and I opened Moonlit 20 years ago our main aims were to provide a great experience for our visitors and do as much as we could to help save endangered species. It’s great to be able to look back over the last 20 years and see that we have exceeded our expectations on both counts.

Our achievements are the product of the dedication and hard work of many people, some of whom are sadly no longer with us. To all of them I say a sincere thank you, Moonlit wouldn’t be what it is today without you.

Nothing worthwhile is ever easy, and we have overcome many struggles along the way, as we will overcome the current difficulties facing us – Moonlit Sanctuary has a great future ahead!”

Wildlife Celebrate 20 Years of Moonlit Sanctuary

Our wildlife join in the celebrations with “birthday cakes” of their own

On Friday, September 17th Moonlit Sanctuary celebrated  20 years and what better way to celebrate a birthday than with cake?

With lockdown restrictions in place, it’s the animals’ turn to celebrate. Keepers served up  “cakes” to mark two decades of bringing people and wildlife together.

“The animals were in for a real treat”, said Life Sciences Manager, Lisa Tuthill. “Whether made of sweet potato, meat or insects, birthday cakes can serve as a great source of nutritional and behavioral enrichment.”

Birthday Greetings

Sadly our friends and supporters couldn’t join us to celebrate our anniversary due to Covid restrictions but we were honoured to receive many messages and best wishes.

Here’s a little video that our friend Russell Coight (Glenn Robbins) sent us. Glenn got to know our staff and wildlife shooting episodes of Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures at Moonlit.
