Mammal Coordinator

Lead a dedicated team and play a key role in advancing animal welfare, operational excellence and conservation outcomes at Moonlit Sanctuary. As an award-winning wildlife conservation park known for its immersive visitor experiences, Moonlit Sanctuary is seeking an experienced Mammal Coordinator to lead the day-to-day operations of the Mammals team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People Leadership: Lead, coach and develop a team of keepers, building a culture of safety, accountability and high performance.
  • Operational Leadership: Coordinate daily mammal team operations, including planning, compliance, coordination, record keeping, safety and presentation standards.
  • Animal Management: Coordinate husbandry, welfare, breeding, enrichment and training programs, to ensure best-practice care and strong outcomes for the collection.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements that strengthen team capability, operational efficiency, animal care practices and conservation outcomes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and developing teams to build capability, accountability and performance.
  • Experience coordinating day-to-day operations, competing priorities and compliance in a busy zoo, wildlife park or similar environment.
  • Strong experience with mammalian species in a zoo or wildlife park, including husbandry, welfare and species management.
  • Experience managing mammalian breeding programs within Species Managed Programs, including reporting requirements and compliance obligations.
  • Strong attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and coordinating acquisitions, dispositions and transfers of mammalian species in line with program requirements.
  • Strong understanding of, and commitment to, the 5 domains model of animal welfare.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; record keeping and ZIMS experience highly regarded.
  • Confidence using computer software and cloud-based applications.
  • Current driver licence and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain before employment.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will coordinate daily operations of the mammal team, support and develop keepers, and maintain high standards of husbandry, welfare, safety and presentation.
