• Reducing Emissions

Climate change is one of the greatest threats facing wildlife and ecosystems around the world. At Moonlit Sanctuary, our conservation mission extends beyond protecting individual species, it includes caring for the natural systems that sustain them. As part of our regenerative tourism approach, we are taking meaningful action to reduce our environmental impact by measuring our carbon footprint, implementing strategies to reduce emissions and investing in renewable energy solutions.

Energy management is a key component of our sustainability strategy, with 80 solar panels installed across the Visitor Centre roof generating approximately 13% of our annual electricity requirements. A live display in the Visitor Centre shares real-time information about our solar generation, electricity consumption and the environmental benefits of renewable energy, helping inspire visitors to consider how renewable energy can contribute to climate action in their own homes and communities.

We have partnered with sustainability specialists Carbonhalo to measure our estimated carbon emissions and develop an Emissions Reduction Plan, providing a clear pathway for reducing our footprint over time. We have also committed to the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, joining tourism organisations around the world in taking action to reduce emissions and build a more resilient future for our planet.
