Yes. All participants can leave their belongings securely in our classroom, so they can bring anything they require. The group will return periodically to the room for breaks and activities.

Our Educators do not take photos but can assist with taking photos for participants on their own devices

Yes. Please discuss with the Educators at the time of sign-in so a pickup location and time can be coordinated.

Age

Our policy is to strictly maintain the age limits of 7 to 14 years.

The program is mostly outdoors, and in our experience, younger children struggle with the amount of walking and the length of the timetable, especially on warm or wet days.

We also wish to ensure our older participants enjoy their day.

We would love to welcome your child in future holidays once they become 7!

For older participants, we now have a new program called “Conservation Club” which teenagers aged 12-18 can attend.

Age limits are 9-18 but get in touch with us if you have a query about this education@moonlitsanctuary.com.au

Medical and learning considerations

Guardians are welcome to stay with their child for the sign-in and introduction to help anxious children settle in. However, in accordance with our Child Safety Commitment, adults who are not Education staff will not be able to stay with the group after this point.

If you would like to enter the park as a regular visitor and let your child know that you will be onsite if needed, this sometimes can be reassuring.

If your child has needs necessitating an adult remaining with them for the whole program, then we do offer an Inclusive Keeper Club program several times a year, in which all children have an accompanying adult.

Please ensure all medical information is recorded in the health form at the time of booking.

We can accommodate all allergies. Staff have first aid training and access to additional epi-pens if required.

Please consider that there are many insects in the environment in the case of insect allergies.

If their medical condition affects walking or mobility, this may impact which animal enclosures the participant can choose, with some more accessible than others.

Weather

Yes, our programs do run in all normal weather conditions, so we always recommend participants wear or bring weather appropriate clothing.

Sunny days:

Hats and sunscreen

Wet days:

Waterproof raincoats

You may wish to send your child with an additional change of clothes or jacket, and an umbrella.

Please note, puffer jackets are not usually waterproof.

On extreme weather days, such as temperatures over 40 degrees, or severe damaging winds, we may cancel the program to ensure the safety of participants.

In less extreme weather, the program will be modified to ensure the comfort and safety of participants.
